Housed in a discreet, terraced building, myhotel Chelsea advertises itself as a chic haven of peace, which combines the eccentricities of traditional England with the cosmopolitan nature of urban living. Inside, through the influence of feng shui and cutting-edge design by James Soane of Project Orange, the property feels like a refreshingly bright country house. The lobby is small but welcoming with a compact seating area. Equally compact, the 45 guestrooms are decorated in subtle pastel colour schemes, while the beds feature mauve satin throws atop crisp white down comforters. All are clean and well maintained, as are the tiny bathrooms with pale pink granite countertops. Decorated with modern photographic prints, "mybar" serves light meals, afternoon tea and cocktails into the evening. It also offers a delicious breakfast with fresh juices and mouth-watering pastries. The guest library, meanwhile, has DVDs and books on loan, and offers a quiet place in which to relax.
